Need More Space?

April 28th, 2009 by Miami Moving

Space is one of the things we take for granted.  When we have space we tend to buy more stuff to fill up that space.  We continue to buy and buy and then we run out of space.

Luckily we have Miami Moving and Storage to take care of our storage needs.  Storage is what we do when we have more stuff than space and refuse to give anything away.  And believe me when I say that many of us are guilty of this trait.

At Miami Moving and Storage, their facility is just like an extension of your garage or attic where you can cram your own cubicle to the rafters.  This space is protected from thieves and rodents so there is no need to fret and worry.  They have state of the art security systems so that everything is protected 24/7.

Miami Moving and Storage is also open 24 hours a day so you have access to your storage rental anytime you want.  If you need to get something out of storage, Miami Moving and Storage is ready and available hail, sleet or rain.

In order to make sure that your belongings are safe and protected not only from thieves and pests but also the warm Miami weather, Miami Moving and Storage has climate controlled rental spaces where you can store delicate items safely.  Now you can really rest easy.  With their temperature controlled facility you can be sure that delicate china, paintings and other temperature sensitive items will last and stay preserved during their storage stay.

Self Storage Tips

April 3rd, 2009 by Miami Moving

There are things that we cannot simply give away or bring with us during our move.  So the next option for these items would be to put them in storage.  Before choosing a storage company, consider first the location.  Would it be convenient to you should you need anything from the storage facility?  How much do they charge?  What are they doing to ensure that your belongings are pest and rodent free?  How are their  security measures?

Self Storage companies can rent out climate controlled or non climate controlled storage areas for you to access anytime.  Consider the space.  How much space do you need to store y our belonings?  If you don’t really need a lot of space, then rent a smaller unit.  Even if you have a lot of stuff consider a small unit first then fill it up to the max.

Remember to use uniform size boxes and stack them according to weight.  The heavy ones go on the bottom while the lighter ones go on top.  Fill your boxes to the top.  Half filled boxes tend to collapse when stacked one on to of the other.  Do not store flammable and combustible materials in your storage facility.  If you need to store anything that uses gas, drain the tank before storage.  When organizing your self storage facility, try to put the most valuable items at the back and purchase a strong padlock in order to discourage thieves.

Packing Materials

If you are moving then chances are you are going to need a lot of packaging materials.  In order to cut cost you can call your moving company as they usually purchase their packaging materials direct from the source.  Make sure that you order a lot of tape, boxes, labels and all the necessities.

If you are concerned about all that going to waste, there are environment friendly manufacturers who make “green” boxes.  These are made from recycled materials.  Also you can donate or sell your used packaging materials like boxes to ecobox.com.  They also sell used boxes so you can cut your moving costs even more.

There are also special packaging materials that you can buy for valuables, oddly shaped furniture, antiques and collectibles.  You have to stock up on tissue, cushioning, crates and other packaging materials to protect your valuables.

Stocking up on packaging materials allow you to get an early start on your packing and avoid stress as the big move comes.  Start with items you do not normally use.  If you have items that can be shipped away earlier, pack them up.  This would minimize the things you need to keep track of.
